Oh Crap. Just What I needed........

Another hobby.

4-5 years ago I started looking into Beekeeping. Even got started on building a couple of hives. I got over it and pushed the whole idea onto the back burner...........

Till I saw a nice old hive at a fleamarket really cheap (20 bucks) a couple of weeks ago.

Damn if I didn't obsess on it and a few days later I went back and bought it.

So now I've got this hive sitting out in the garage taking up space.
Shit. It's like the damn thing is whispering to me at night. "Clean me up and buy some Bees, Dumbass."

Now anyone who has known me for any time at all knows I have had an irrational fear of Bees and Wasps for years.
I wrecked a car once because there was a wasp in it fer Keeryst sake.

Well, I decided a number of years ago that I'd get over that fear and pretty much have. It's not, nor never was, fear of being stung. I deal with pain pretty well.
It was just the mental thing. And I decided that I wasn't gonna let some goofy fear control me anymore.

And Really, can you think of a better way to get past it than to get Bees and deal with them? I can't.

So Bees it's gonna be. Since I have planted 20+ fruit and nut trees over the last 2 years, it makes practical sense too.

Now the hive is pretty old and beat up, but it was complete with frames and 3 large hive bodies. Two of the which are in good shape. With a little work and a few more medium size hive bodies and a few accouterments , I'd have a 2 hive setup and be good to go.

Then all ya need is Bees. That may be a problem getting now, but I'll see. It's usually better to reserve them ahead of time and I still have to clean the hell out of things to make sure there's no contamination left over in them.

A normal guy would take their time and get everything squared away now and prepare for next year.

Yeah right. Not bloody likely fer me.

So it looks like I know what I'm gonna be doing the next couple of days. Cleaning and scrubbing out that hive.
And ordering all the other parts and pieces I need to get things going.

Oh well. A Beekeeper I shall be.

Range Report..........

Spent the entire day at the range yesterday. The 2 sons, Therapy Boy and Dog Boy came down for some much needed rifle instruction. We were joined by my friend, Clifford the Big Red Medic.

I was able to do individual instruction for both of them as schedules didn't allow them to be there simultaneously. That actually worked out to their benefit as the 1 on 1 time was well spent and well received.

Therapy Boy, who has never shot much more than pistols really did great. We started on the 50 yd range and by the time we progressed to the 100 mark he was spot on and very consistent with his groupings. It's only gonna take a bit more schooling and practice for him to be a crack shot.

Same for DogBoy. He was shooting unsupported, 100yd groups into an 8" circle in no time.

They will both be better shots than I am soon. Like after the next practice session is all.
I need to get MiniD out to instruct them. He's my resident shooter guru and has helped me immensely. He'll have those 2 morons dialed in tight in no time.

Both of the boys were a bit leery of the Mosin-Nagant recoil and I'm gonna have to work on them about being, recoil wussies. But we don't want to rush things here.

It was a great day and very encouraging to me to see these 2 take off so well with such minimal instruction.
I hope we get to do this often.

It's nice to spend time with the kids and the range is a great place to do it. Most non-shooters have no idea just how fun it is spending the day making big booms & punching holes in paper.

Sleep Tight Kids...........
I'm gonna be gone again most of tomorrow so I'll dump this on ya now.

Remember when I asked you to check This Shit Out back in early January?

Yeah, I got a bit of feedback telling me how friggin stupid I am, yada, yada, yada.

Well, shit and step in it. What do you know. Hate to say, "I told ya so."

Unions Want to Take Over Your 401(k)

"One of the nation's largest labor unions, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), is promoting a plan that will centralize all retirement plans for American workers, including private 401(k) plans, under one new "retirement system" for the United States.

In effect, government pensions for everyone, not unlike the European system and regardless of personal choice.

The SEIU, which was integral to the election of Barack Obama as president, is working with the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute (EPI), and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, on SEIU's plan, called "the Retirement USA Initiative."

Claiming that the retirement system in place now has "failed most Americans," EPI vice president Ross Eisenbrey, told a labor union publication that "account balances have fallen by a third since late 2007, leaving many older workers unable to retire just as our economy is shedding millions of jobs."

And we all thought that if we worked hard & saved our money for when we get old, that everything would be hunky dorey.

Just one more area where that "Hope and Change" has had an effect.

Thursday Morning Wakeup Call.......

Slept late and got a call from work. They need help as someone is sick so I'm gonna go in and make a bit of extra time. This is a good thing.

Extra hours help. Lord knows a guy can use a few extra bucks these days.

I was still to angry to post anything Tuesday or Wednesday and pretty much avoided the computer completely. Just as well as I wouldn't have had anything constructive to say. I'm still angry as hell but it's dampened down to a slow burn now.

I am curious to see if or how many Zombies have been in wanting their "Free Obamacare" yet. My guess is that some have already. I do hope I'm there when they do.

Gotta go Kids.
Today would be a good day to think about getting your garden ready/planned for this year.

My, How Things Change............
Even though close to 2/3 of the populace did not want this, so called, health care solution, our "Representatives" went and passed this crap last night.

This is a fundamental change in the relationship between the Citizens and the State.
And not in a good way, kids.

I'm just not up to ranting on this now.
I'm too angry this morning.

I'll leave you with this-

Back in the 80's when I was a member of the US Army, I had the good fortune to travel to Germany for a Reforger exercise.

I was able to get up close to the frontier between East and West Germany. With a set of field glasses you could see the commies on the other side watching us...........
Watching them.

Everybody concerned knew just what was what. We were on one side of the border and they were on the other. It was our mission to ensure that they stayed there too.
Pretty simple.

We achieved that mission and it still makes me proud to have been a part of it.

It was easy to understand then. They're over there and we're over here and as long as things stayed that way it would be all good.

Back then it would have never occurred to me that only 25 years later the Commies would be BEHIND US IN THE REAR, steering the ship of state, running the show, etc.

Over the years,
around the globe, millions of US Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen, took up that mission of keeping those Commie Bastards "Over There".

I've been sitting here this morning thinking, "Those Commie Bastards may just win after all. But not without a fight"

Friday Night and All Is Well........

I've spent the better part of the last 2 days riding the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle around Southern Indiana.

I just got in from points West of here and my wonderful wife has corned beef and cabbage fixed and waiting.

Life is good.

Don't have anything else to offer today. It's off to work in the morning for the weekend and if the weather holds up nice, I hope to be riding again next week.

Things may be a bit sparse around here for a few days as I reacquaint myself with the Bike after this long cold Winter.

St. Patrick of the Rifle Range.......

Got up way to early this morning and made the trek to the rifle range to meet a couple of friends and shoot a bit.

Took 2 Mosins and the EBR (Evil Black Rifle. You Know, the kind that scares the shit out of leftists.)

I'm thinking that St Patties Day is a fine day to go to the range as that rifle practice may well come in handy sometime soon.

I've never been a fan of the IRA but that doesn't mean I won't resort to their playbook if it comes to that.

We could use a Saint like that who would run all of the snakes out of Washington.

Have a Guinness with me and hope for the best tonight.

Woman aims to become world's fattest

"Donna Simpson, from New Jersey, weighs 273kg but told the Daily Mail newspaper she had her heart set on reaching her goal weight of 1000lb (450kg) in two years.

The 42-year-old already holds the title of the world's fattest mother after giving birth to her daughter in 2007 when she weighed 241kg.

"I'd love to be 1000lb ... it might be hard though, running after my daughter keeps my weight down," Ms Simpson told the Daily Mail.

Ms Simpson, who needs a mobility scooter to go shopping, eats huge amounts of junk food each week and tries to move as little as possible so she doesn't burn off as many calories."

I could go on for a long time on this one. But I won't. Read the article and see the unique way she has of financing her grocery bill.

Oh, and here she is "At the training table" working out.

Had Enough "Overreach" Info This Week?????

To Bad & Sorry to disappoint you.
These friggin' parasites just can't seem to put the brakes on the full court press of Totalitarianism.

Obama Supports DNA Sampling Upon Arrest

"Gerstein posts a televised interview of Obama and John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted. The nation’s chief executive extols the virtues of mandatory DNA testing of Americans upon arrest, even absent charges or a conviction. Obama said, “It’s the right thing to do” to “tighten the grip around folks” who commit crime."

Having been cuffed one time for driving a vehicle just like the one the Cops were looking for I can't tell ya how thrilled I am about this shit!

And if that isn't enough, the Senate is dredging up plans for another go-round at an "Comprehensive Immigration Bill".

Like the Health Care Bullshit, they already know that Amnesty for Illegals is about as popular as a case of the Clap with most Americans but they just can't seem to help themselves.

The best part of this new approach?

ID Card for Workers Is at Center of Immigration Plan.

"Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.

Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal U.S. workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker....."

Hey!! There's a idea for ya!
Just don't forget your card when you leave the house, Comrade or the Federales manning the checkpoints will be swabbing them some DNA from you.

And it's not like Hackers and counterfeiters would ever be able to forge, alter or throw a wrench into any system like this.

Right?

Back in the 80's, I got a look at the frontier between East and West Germany while over there for an Army Reforger exercise.
Hot damn, Skippy, I never would have thought that the same Commie MoFos we were there to protect against would be running the show here at home.

I'm not gonna live in a "Workers Paradise".
Yes, I know what the logical outcome of saying that is & I'm ok with that.

Our freedoms have been eaten away from us a little at a time for the last 70+ years. Now it seems that the time has come to complete the mission and the final corruption of the USA.

I mentioned The proposed new fishing regulations here yesterday.

Here's a bit more with some commentary from The Sipsey Street Irregulars.

Go and check it out. Be sure to follow the links.

Also, check out the comments to this.

I doubt that the assholes who are proposing this shit have any idea just what kind of reaction, something like this proposed fishing ban, is gonna bring about.

I'm hoping that you can.

Overreach of the Colossus.........

While I was out riding the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle today, it seems that some Einstein in congress decided that We should just change the rules and pass that Health Care Monstrosity without even voting on it again.

Or something of that nature. Read Ace's explanation of this thing at the link.

Geezus H. Keyriist on a crutch. A guy can't even go out and spend a nice sunny day on his motorcycle without coming home to find out that these Commie Sonzabitches are trying to circumvent the Constitution once again.
Just so they can jam that fuggin Abortion of a Health Care bill up our asses by any means they can.

Here's some more on this Horseshit. Again, from Ace of Spades.

I don't know why shit like this surprises me anymore. It's like Obama and his evil bitch minions are in a race to destroy this country.

Hell, maybe they are.

I really doubt that they will get to enjoy the "Workers Paradise" they hope to create for any length of time though.

There will be a damn revolt if they cram this thing through like this.
These folks don't seem to understand the concepts of "Rule of Law", "Law of unintended Consequences" or "The Self Fulfilling Prophecy".
Furthermore, we the people understand that if the Government doesn't have to obey the law then we won't either.

Yeah, and keep calling all of us who don't wish to be a part of this Commie Takeover, "Terrorists". That shit may not work out so well for you if even a small number of folks ever do decide to call you on that and act accordingly.

This is gonna get seriously ugly Kids.

You all should think long and hard about that and plan accordingly if you haven't already.

More Overreach.........
See the post below for starters on this overreach thing.

Here's something I first heard of today.

Obama administration will accept no more public input for federal fishery strategy

"The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is "fluid" and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn't issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters.

That's a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

"When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario," said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano......"

Did you get that?
Here. Just in case you missed it-
"The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters."

Just in case you can't figure out what that means.

You. Will. Not. Be. Legally. Able. To. Take. Your. Kids. Fishing. Ever. Again.

Got that?

Will he go for it?
Who knows?

The fact that they are EVEN THINKING of this kind of stupid shit should be reason enough to be pissed.

Frankly, if you're not pissed about this ........ Piss off you sonofabitches.

That's all I have to say to this fucking idea and whoever came up with it, too.

If this shit keeps up, we're all gonna be lamenting the "Good old days" before long.

More Overreach by the Feds.......

O saw this last week and didn't mention it at the time.

Proposal to seize land would favor animals over Americans

"A secret administration memo has surfaced revealing plans for the federal government to seize more than 10 million acres from Montana to New Mexico, halting job- creating activities like ranching, forestry, mining and energy development. Worse, this land grab would dry up tax revenue that's essential for funding schools, firehouses and community centers.

President Obama could enact the plans in this memo with just the stroke of a pen, without any input from the communities affected by it."

Senator Jim DeMint tried to block it but was defeated on a party line vote.

Do you have any idea just how much land is controlled by the Feds now?

I must have missed this when it first came out. Here's a story from last month about it.
EXCLUSIVE: Obama Eyes Western Land for National Monuments, Angering Some

Looking at the chart above I can see why some folks may be upset about this.

"Presidential use of the Antiquities Act is highly controversial because the White House, with the stroke of a pen, can lock up thousands of square miles of federal lands used for timber, ranching, mining and energy development without local input or congressional approval. The Act is generally interpreted to commemorate or protect a specific historical landmark, not prohibit development or deprive local communities of jobs and tax revenues.

"Any federal action that could lead to limited access should be done in an open and public manner using extraordinary caution," said Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., upon seeing the leaked report. "The fact that this administration is already circulating internal memos to bypass Congress and the public process is troubling."

It appears that Utah is preparing to tell the Feds, "UP YOURS"

"SALT LAKE CITY — A pair of Utah County Republican lawmakers want to shepherd a trio of bills using eminent domain to wrest control of public lands they say are tied up by an out-of-balance, out-of-control federal bureaucracy.

The sponsors, with unanimous support voiced Wednesday by a legislative appropriations committee, not only want to tap some School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration land for development, but also yank back some of the parcels of oil-rich land withdrawn by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar a year ago this month.

Rep. Ken Sumsion, R-American Fork, and Rep. Chris Herrod, R-Provo, said the groundswell of the states' rights movement means the time is ripe for the battle, which they envision playing out before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Citing a quote by Alexander Hamilton, Herrod said it is time to sound the alarm on behalf of the people and be the mouthpiece of discontent."

Good for them. I'd like to see more of this response by the States.

New Tire Today.........

On the rear of the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle today.
Way past due too.

I needed a new one last year and rode it till it was a slick. Not real bright on my part but I'm good to go now.

I ordered the tire last Friday afternoon and it showed up Monday afternoon. That's amazing. And the shipping was free.
Ordered it from The Motorcycle Superstore.
YerUnk is pleased with the quick service.

I pulled the rim off the bike this morning and took it down to a local tire place a coworker recommended and they swapped tires for me quickly and cheap. I gave the kid more than he was asking because he was cheating himself. But I'll go there the next time I need tires for something else.

I am so ready to get riding. Seems like this has been a long Winter and things are starting to warm up finally.

Also brought the incubator into the house and started it up today. About 3 days of dicking around with the temperature to get it regulated and I should be able to set some eggs by Friday.

Same thing with the seed starting setup. Should be ready to start seeds this week too.

Yep, Spring is just about here and it's time to get busy again.

And that's a good thing. Set around on my ass all Winter and need to get the hell outside again.

200 Russian Tanks Found Abandoned in Forest

Unbelievable. Sweet Geezus, I'd have been hot wiring those bad boys so fast it would make yer head spin.

The March of the Penguins..........

No, not what you think. I'll explain in a minute.

Late Monday night, early Tuesday morning I was awakened from sleep with extreme abdominal cramps. Sort of a, "Holy Shit. WTF is going on here?" kind of discomfort. Very unusual and not at all nice.
As I sat doubled over on the side of the bed, I had an epiphany and realized just what was happening.

And I made a mad dash to the bathroom.

And just in time, too. WHOA NELLYYYYYY!!!!
Seems I picked up a bit of the nasty little stomach bug that's been going around here lately. We've been seeing a lot of this in the ER the last week or so and damn if I wasn't lucky enough to provide host services for the nasty little critter in my GI tract.

I'll spare you the graphic details except that they must not have liked it there and decided that an emergency evacuation, En Mass would be a damn fine idea at, O dark thirty in the morning.
Something like this -

With my ass being Hiroshima.

The USA ended WWII by only dropping 2 nukes on the Japanese.
The nasty little Gut Bugs that were attacking me were not that nice and seemed determined to wipe my ass from the face of the earth.

OK. Sometimes you get an illness. I understand this. Being around sick MoFo's all the time probably increases the likelihood of it, too.

Yes I wash my friggin hands.
A lot.

The problem was I had to work yesterday and the thought of being 2 steps to slow to the bathroom was terrifying.

But things settled down somewhat and off to work I went.

I made a mad preemptive dash to the nearest restroom every time I even thought I may have to fart.
There would be no way a guy would ever live with shitting your scrubs at work.
Seppuku would be the only honorable recourse in a case like that.

Thankfully, things slowly improved as the day went on.
I was bitching to Mr McCool, my Xray guru coworker about all this and he's the one who inspired the title for this post.

See how I did that?
I learned that from reading Dave Barry columns.

Anyways, his advice was, "Don't fart, Dude. And if I see you doing the March of the Penguins I'll know that you didn't listen to me!"
He of course said this as he was waddling away down the hall laughing.

I almost shit myself laughing and I'm pretty sure that's what he was trying to achieve.
It almost worked.

Things are better today so that's a plus.

Commitment...........

True Honor
"Last week due to record snow fall Washington DC shut down every federal office. Every city office closed for ten day, but a group of men who understand duty saw to it that they did not abandon their charge."

These young men are simply the best.

From the Bear Creek Ledger comes this quote about these men -

"These guys were given the time off during the bad weather but every one of them refused and manned their posts. This is Arlington at the Tomb of the Unknowns."

More pictures at the Ledger link also.

It makes me proud that we still have such Men of Honor here.

You surely don't hear the words, Honorable Men and Washington DC mentioned in the same sentence much anymore.
For good reason I guess.

There's a hell of a lot of folks in Washington who should take a look at these young men and then go take a look in the mirror.
