Quick Tuesday .....

Long day today. Got my butt up earlier than I would have wanted and being me, while standing in the garage having that morning smoke and coffee got the great idea to, Hold your breath- Wash TheBigBluePlasticMotorcycle!

Scary indeed. It's been almost 2 years since I last did a real scrub job on the poor thing. Thank goodness it only has 2 pieces of chrome on it.

It took 2-3 hours to just knock the big shit off it. What I did would not even qualify as a, Detail Job. I've been feeling guilty about the looks of the old girl lately and as I'm planning a short trip this week, I figured I should at least knock the big pieces off and improve the mileage some. I keep her maintained well, but cleaning? Not so much.

Regarding that trip. Heading to Pennsylvania for a gathering of the Wife's kin Saturday. Thinking of leaving Thursday and following the Ohio River to West byGod Virginia and angling up from there. Not sure yet, but that's my favorite part of going places. Just following your nose and circumstances.

Hell, I turned a 120 mile round trip into damn near 350 miles today and never left Indiana.

Scenic route. And thankfully, Indiana is scenic.

Plan on shooting over to my Brothers place in Ohio after the Pennsylvania thing and spending some time there and then making a big loop of Ohio home.

That's the plan anyway. We'll see. I'd like to stop in Kidron, Ohio again and check out Lehmans again. Last time I was out that way I was rushed for time and didn't do much more than stop and have a cup of coffee.

Oh, before I forget. As I was heading home tonight I ran across a guy riding a '51 Harley that looked like he just found it under a haystack. Jeez, it was totally original. Rusty as hell and ragged all over.

Beautiful.

I was hauling ass to get home as my 3 hour ride had stretched to 7 hours already and I was hungry. This Dude was cruising along on that old thing at a steady 65-70 mph as smooth as you could ask for.
Sounded sweet as a peach. Made my day.

I am really not in, "Riding Shape". My ass was sore and my back is gonna hurt tomorrow. There really is something to conditioning yourself for riding and I ain't in it so far this year.

I really haven't been putting many miles on the Bike at all. Weather mostly, but a lot of it is just my lazy ass. I'm becoming a wimp about rain and such.

The cure for that is riding more and I guess I should just do it. Hell, when I ride sensibly, I get 45+ mpg. So there's really not much excuse is there?

OK, my ass is tired.

I was never all that good with knots. I'm still Knot great.

Ok that was weak, but it was there and I went with it.

Anyway, here's something I found the other day that is really useful.

7 Basic Knots Every Man Should Know


For a lotta years, my favorite knot was, the "Gopher Knot".

Which is the one where you need to "Go Fer" yer pocketknife in order to get it undone.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who specialized in that knot.

I'm better now but not great. I cut myself a short piece of rope and have been practicing the ones that I'm weak on and it doesn't take much time to get a grip one these.

Very useful stuff to know. Try it.

I'll be working like every weekend. I hope you all enjoy your Holiday.

The weather
here looks like rain. As far as I'm concerned, that's ok. Hopefully that'll subdue some of the drunk and stupid from needing to be in my ER.


Here's something to read this morning. Take a few and ponder on just what these words mean.

Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Some Days Are Strange ........
You get up with a plan to do certain things and the whole day drives you in a different direction.

That direction can be good or bad. Today? Pretty good.

Good Queen Buffness hauled ass early this morning to go see her Sister for the Holiday. That left me with the Dogs to mess around here all day.

Needing feed for the Chickens, I headed off to town. On the way I spied an old Ford 9N Tractor for sale just down the rode a ways. I don't really have the cash for a Tractor right now, but I do have the need for one.

The big lawn machine I bought several years ago is just that. A lawn machine. It's a beast when it comes to cutting that stuff. The big problem is that I have a lot more rough stuff than lawn.
I'm beating the hell out it. A small tractor with a Bush Hog would be better for a lot of what I've got here. So I stopped. Looked pretty good. I felt the motor and it was cold, so when the owner cranked her up and it started on about the second turn I was impressed. He went on about all the stuff he'd done on it and it conformed with what I'd already eyeballed. I told him I was only kicking tires as I didn't have any cash and we drifted off to other subjects.

One of which was chickens. Seems he'd bought a bunch of pullets and wanted to get rid of some. Three bucks a pop. I told him I'd be back.

I went by the bank and got a few bucks cash while I was doing my needed work in town.

Now, I'd forgotten that the other day, the air conditioner guy had offered me a trellis setup that he had taken down recently. Driving by his place I spotted it and remembered that. Shit. I already had a bunch of shit in the the back of The Little Blue Truck and didn't have room for all of the Trellis.

Went home and unloaded all of the Chicken feed, dog food, etc and made another trip to town. The owner had taken all the pieces apart during the time I'd been going home.

Cool.

I loaded up all the, already marked pieces and drove back toward home.
Stopped and bought 4, Barred Rock Pullets from the Tractor owner & put them in the cage I'd already thrown in the back and continued toward home.

This Trellis had been used to hang up those upside down Tomato buckets last year. It'll be perfect for a Grape Arbor. The guy was nice enough to mark all the pieces so even a Dumbass like me can get it all back together again. More cool.

On the way home from town - the first time- I saw a garage sale that looked good, so I stopped on the way home from the 2nd trip. (With the Chickens in the back of the truck)
Got a 4 way lug wrench, 100 foot of heavy nylon 5/8" rope, a nice Brooder lamp and a cool old, Black Dial Type Telephone for a total of $3 Bucks.

The lug wrench or the rope was worth that alone. Good score.

So far so good, right?

There's a big field across the road from me. 60-80 acres. They started taking the Wheat out yesterday evening, getting about a quarter of it.

The Boy was running the Combine and his Dad came in with the Baler to bale the straw around 2-3 this afternoon. He only made a short pass and stopped. I caught him as he headed back to his truck and asked him about the price of Straw in the field.
We talked for a few minutes and when he realized that I wanted the straw for garden mulch and Chicken bedding, he told me that they have a shitlaod of straw that they can't sell that I can have for free. As in, take all you want.

It shames me to say that I've been out here at this place for close to 10 years and have never met these guys. They live less than a quarter mile away. I've met several of the family members, but not this guy or his son.

My bad in a big way.
I'm gonna have to have, Good Queen Buffness make them some cookies or a pie or something when I do take him up on his very kind offer.

I'm a friendly guy, but I don't go out of my way to introduce myself to strangers. I wave whenever anyone goes by and I will stop and help anyone who looks like they need it, but I just never have gone to the trouble of reaching out to the people who live close around me.

That's a serious shortcoming on my part that needs to be addressed.

Not at all like I planned, but the day turned out good. And I learned about a problem that I need to correct, too. That's ok.
It's an area that I need to work on.

Thursday Evening .......

Nothing to exciting going on at "The GrumpyUnk Command and Control Bunker" today.

I sloughed off a lot of things I should have been doing today. My ass was aching from all the shoveling and what not yesterday.

I hate to admit that I just don't have the energy levels I used to have a few years ago and damn if my joints just kick the hell out of me sometimes.

But that's the way it is and I guess I better get used to it. The Arthritis and Lupus makes them old joints ache when you over do it.
Over do it has become a relative thing though.

Pisses me off sometimes, but doing what I do for a living helps focus me on the fact that it can always be worse and my little problems ain't nothing to bitch about.

Here's what I have been doing -
Have been eating the shit out of fresh Peas the last few weeks. I yanked all of the remaining plants and froze some and dried these.



Amazing how big a pile of Peas dry down to just those 3 jars.

My wife makes an ass kick, Pea soup and that's a lot of soup in those jars.

I look at those little shriveled up things and think "My gonads probably look like that."

Anyway, The 3 beds that held the Peas were cleaned and planted with Beans last Friday. Look like this this evening.




Not bad. The weather has been good for them. I've got 4 different types of beans going now.

Those are regular bush beans there.

I've got Pole Beans, Black Turtle Soup Beans and Cranberry Beans going too.

Yeah, I like beans.

And Watermelon.



This is a, Moon and Stars Melon. It's coming along nicely.
My melons are a friggin mess. I just sorta stuffed them all into one small area and now they are falling all over themselves and making a big tangled mess.
It's a good mess because it looks like I'll have melons out the Wahzoo and that's good.




There's 4 different types of Melons in that mess there.

See, you forget just how much room these things need when you take 3-4 years off.

It'll be ok though. What's so wonderful is, even a bad year is better than not growing anything.

That small bed of Beans along the fence are the, Black Turtle Beans. Not a lot, but I've never raised them before and this is a trial year.

The Pear tree is looking good. It's amazing that it's alive at all, considering that I damn near burnt it to the ground when a small, cleanup fire got out of hand a couple of years ago.

I thinned about half of the fruit out of it a week ago. It was already bending the hell out of the limbs. I added a couple of props and ropes to support things and it looks ok for now.

Overall, things look good. The single Cuke Plant is pumping Cukes out at an amazing pace. The, "Tomatoes that Ate My HoopHouse" are just going crazy. I should have trimmed them up too. You can't hardly get through the damn thing now.

Can't even walk through it anymore.

Lesson learned for next year.

I need to start keeping a journal and a plot plan of what and where I put things. Several of the markers I made for things like Peppers are gone and I have no Idea which is which.

It's amazing I can find my way home at night.

Ever Have One of Those Days Where Everything Goes Right?????

Me neither.

But today was OK so I'll be happy with that.

My Fathers, "Lawn Mower Gene" kicked in the other day. The 3 year old lawn mower broke a belt a couple of weeks ago. Well, shit happens and stuff wears out.

$75 dollars to replace the damn thing!!!!

Ouch. As in, "My ass hurts from that screwing. Didn't even get a reach around", kinda ouch.
Now, being the smart guy that I am, I saved the paperwork and had a belt number so I could find one on the Interwebz for half that price.

Except I didn't expect to break another one in only 2 weeks.

Man that sucks.

It takes to long to earn $75 bucks to be buying them like that.

Oh well. Sometimes shit happens.

I've never had a ripe Tomato in June before.

This is an old time variety called, German Johnson and not a fast growing hybrid either. These aren't the prettiest looking things, but they do taste good and get pretty decent sized and are about my favorites.

Being able to get things started early in that HoopHouse is gonna be a real plus. Now I'm curious as to how long I can extend the season without any supplemental heat.

I've got a lot to learn on utilizing this thing and I'm wondering if I should be planting Tomatoes in containers and moving them out instead of leaving them in the ground like I did this year.

Probably.

Plant rotation for pest control and all that.

Anyway, just wanted to show off some. I'm gonna go ride the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle for awhile now.

Hot and Sweaty Out .......
Like it was Summertime or something.

Inside taking a break for lunch and being thankful I have Air Conditioning.

It's amazing that I never had a car or a house with AC until after I was married. Temperatures were always hot like it is here the last few days and I always had an outside job back then.

Don't think I want to get used to it again, just saying I'm thankful.

Been pounding down the water and Gatoraid the last few days trying to keep hydrated. Got a little dizzy yesterday afternoon and had to come inside and cool off. Easily drank 2-3 gallons of fluids but still fell behind on the hydration working out in that Sun.

Did get a bit done though and that's good.

Lunch is done. Time to get back outside.

I kept hearing that great, Sly and the Family Stone song running through my head last night at work as the ER was inundated with Zombies of every flavor, style and variety.

One never knows just what kind of day you're gonna have when you go to work in the ER. I've been doing this a long time now and it still remains a mystery.

Apparently, the Borg Collective that regulates the process of inspiring good ideas in the Zombie population decided that it was a good day to get drunk and stupid.
As in -
Get drunk and take a handful of pills.
Get drunk and pass out in someone else's yard.
Get drunk and kick a Cops ass. Yeah, that one didn't work out to well for ZombieBoy.

There was a large number of folks who have had minor aches and pains - For months - who just had to go down to the ER and have it figured out - RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW!!!

This group always makes me laugh when I'm in the Triage role as I was last night.

Me - "So how long has this been bothering you?"
Zombie - "A while."
Me - "A while? How long of a while? A day or two, a week,
since Jimmy Carter was President?"
Zombie - "Who?"
Me - "Scratch that. Since the 'A Team or Magnum PI' was on TV and not the re-runs?"
Zombie - "Not that long. A couple of months."
Me - "Glad we got that cleared up."

And it's always this group who have to ask - "Why is it so busy tonight and taking so long?"
I REALLY gotta watch myself when I give an answer to that shit.

I always try to be very factual and emphasize, in my most condescending way, that "Some people just don't understand the definition of EMERGENCY."
And sure as shit, they don't believe that they are part of that group.

It's pretty damn funny as long as you aren't out in the waiting room with a real illness or injury.

I always try, emphasis on TRY, to sort and move people who need it through to the back first. Sometimes things get tweaked and don't work out as you'd like. The EMS crews will be coming in the back door and people get put into rooms I've slotted for a particular patient.
Just part of the job and you have to adapt the plan on days like that.
Some days are better than others and I was in a pretty good mood last night and things moved pretty well overall.
We had a couple of good Doctors and everything flows from them. If the Docs don't move people the whole process backs up and things go to shit.

Last night went pretty well considering how things could have gone, the crowd we had and how high the, DumbShit Factor was.

I've got a ton of things to do today, including a run down to the Ohio River to help the oldest son move this evening.
After getting home late last night and sleeping in late this morning I gotta get going, but my motivation factor is running in the direct opposite direction as the thermometer, which is hanging around the low 90's right now.

Could be a problem.

Big Night Out .......
Went to Indianapolis tonight to see one of my favorite guitarists, Robin Trower .

I've mentioned him here before as I've been going to see him annually now for the last few years.

Frankly, for a guy 64 years old it's incredible how this guy rocks.
He's always been a monster on the guitar, but he can still flat out squeeze the shit out of a Fender Strat. His energy level and power is amazing.

My Buddy, DrJ and his son went along and the old man and the kid (Who's a pretty good guitarist) all had a good time.

I was majorly shocked when we got down to where we were supposed to have seats - Front Row. Dead Center.
Right directly in front of Trowers' mike and setup.
I owe DrJ a big one. All the years I've been going to concerts, I have never been in the front row. Close, but not front row. Couldn't have been a better night.

It was a good night and a great time. I'll have some pictures in a day or 2. DrJ's kid was the official photographer tonight.

Saturday Morning......
Spent the day Friday out with a friend and went up to an antique tractor show.

My kind of entertainment.
Cockshutt and Oliver were the featured brands and there were some very nice examples on display.




Like this one. I've not seen a lot of Cockshutt's before and they are a pretty tractor.


There were quite a few stationary motors powering various things. One of the neat ones was this home electrical generator. Check out the batteries. The owner said it came from an old farm in Kentucky and would have produced 32 volts of DC power. If I remember right, that's what the old wind generators produced also.

There were 4-5 Steam units there too. This shit is always impressive.





This Case was running a sawmill and produced a whopping 40 horsepower at the pulley for the belt and 25 HP at the back wheels.

This was one of my favorites.

Have You Heard About This ?????

2 Japanese Carrying $134 Billion In U.S. Bonds Detained In Italy

This was from last week. I read about it then and would have thought that this would be a big story.

You'd never know it from the lack of coverage. Here's one of the parts I found interesting -

"The treasure was in the hands of two Japanese from Italy were trying to enter Switzerland. In a suitcase were 249 bonds of the ‘Federal Reserve‘ American in the nominal value of 500 million each, and 10 ‘ bond Kennedy ‘ of the nominal value of $ 1 billion each, in addition to what is described as very original banking documentation."

500 Million Each?!?!?!?!?
Holy Shit!!!! And 10 single Bonds worth 1 Billion each?

How the hell did these guys even get this kinda shit?
I ain't buying the counterfeit idea either. Who the hell you gonna sell them to?

I have no idea what the hell this is about, but it seems odd that these guys are carrying more than the gross domestic product of New Zealand around in a suitcase.

Pocket Pistol .......

My In-laws are down at the "GrumpyUnk Command and Control Bunker" for a few days.

Bob brought a little .25 caliber Bronco automatic with him.
Cool little, and I mean little, pistol.

Sorry about the fuzzy picture, but I get all excited and shaky around firearms.
OK. Not really. I just have a shitty camera and had drank about 8 cups of coffee prior to taking the photo.

He had a box of ammo that he'd bought back in the early 70's that he brought with him for it, so when I went to town for chickenfeed yesterday I sought out some more ammo for him.

I searched high and low and finally found a guy who had one box stashed. Cost me $22 bucks for it, too! That was a major ripoff, but I bought it anyway.

One place I looked was the Hardware store in town as I knew they sold ammo at one time and thought they might have a box laying around, but no luck.

They did have one 500 count of Remington .22lr and I asked how much it was. The clerk said "$3.99". I told her that probably wasn't right and she looked it up and said to me, "You're right. It's $4.99." I told her to check again, but she said that was the correct price so I bought it. After asking if they had anymore boxes like that stashed in the back. She went and looked, but no such luck. I'd have snatched up as many as they had for that price. You can tell it's old as the print has faded some on the side that was facing out from the shelf, but hey, it's 500 rounds for a penny a piece!

That took some of the sting out of the gouging I took on the .25 caliber rounds anyway.

So we went out to the back yard and fired off a few rounds this morning.

Bob's ammo from way back when had a failure to fire rate of at least 30%. So that $22 bucks looks even less expensive now as none of those we used (Only a small amount) failed to go Bang.

I shot up 200 rounds of the discount .22lr in the Browning Buckmark and had one failure is all.

Gingerbread Man Zombies!! Bet you never knew they were loose around here. But we kicked their asses and kept the "Command and Control Bunker" safe from the Flesh Eating Cookie Men.

You'll note a few bigger holes in there. Those are from the Colt .45.

Both Bob and the Mother in Law fired a couple of .45 mags off and did well.

All in all a good morning.

The Four Worms of the Apocalypse .....

Actually, there was more like like 15 or 20.

I went out to check out the garden yesterday morning and ran into this -




They had looked nice and pretty Saturday Morning before I went to work.

Something was eating the hell out of them.

Sure enough.




Nasty little Cabbage Worms.

I had a bit of trouble seeing them at first as they blend in colorwise almost identical with the plants.

Once I spotted them I squished 'em while cussing all things insect.

I checked things out today and couldn't find any more, so I think I got 'em all for now.

They tore hell out of the cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli that's for sure.

Other than those little bastards, things look pretty good.








The Bumblebees seem to like the Sunflowers. They're all over them.


Got Peas? Oh yeah.







The HoopHouse is becoming a jungle full of Tomatoes and Cukes.












All in all things look pretty good.

"Oakland Man Fatally Shoots Intruder"

"OAKLAND, Tenn. - An Oakland, Tennessee man fatally shot an intruder trying to climb in his window early Monday morning.

The incident occurred on the 400-block of Bell Grove Road. The homeowner heard what sounded like a knock on his window around 12:30am. When the noise grew, the homeowner found a neighbor, 32-year old Anthony Webb, breaking through his window with a rake.

The homeowner tells FOX13 that he told the man repeatedly to stop, but Webb's reply was "What are you going to do?"

The intruder was shot three times, and was declared dead upon arrival by local police.

Harley Rider vs Deer ........
This was an ugly one that came through the ER yesterday.
Guy out riding his bike on a nice Sunday afternoon on a small tree lined back road when one of those suicidal, cloven hoofed, SOB ungulates decides to run out and stop right in front of him.

Dude had nowhere to go but to his brakes and slow down the impact.

It didn't work out to well for either party. The deer was dispatched by the local Sheriff and the rider was brought to us.

All I can say is this - Wear some protective gear!

This dude probably has a couple of holes in his skull today to drain off the blood and reduce the pressure on his brain. If he'd had a helmet on, he'd probably have gotten by without a head injury from bouncing his head off the pavement at least twice.

He broke a couple of ribs and dropped a lung and that most likely would have occurred no matter what kind of gear he'd been wearing. So he got a chest tube before he was flown out to the BigCityHospital.

And this dude had some of the worst Road Rash I've ever seen. His arms and hands looked like someone took a belt sander to them. Just puckered your ass up to look at it.

That shit is gonna hurt like a MoFo for a long time. He should fully recover, but it's gonna take some time and a lot of hurt.

Just some basic riding gear could have saved him a lot of pain.

Just wear your gear.

Global Warming just ain't happening. Just the opposite and it's effecting our food supply.

He also highlights a threat to the worlds wheat production that I was unaware of.

Friday Night ........

It's been a busy week here at the "GrumpyUnk Command and Control Bunker".
Didn't get near as much done as I planned, but I did get a bunch of things done, so it's all good.

Got some beans planted today. Kentucky Wonder pole beans and some Black Turtle soup beans. If the peas ever get done I'll be planting a bunch of bush beans for canning.

Started on the garden expansion this afternoon. Since I'm not gonna be able to really spend the time on working up a new spot I decided to try something new. For me anyway.

What I did is spread some sheet plastic out on the area to be used. I weighted the edges with some concrete blocks and then turned some turf onto the edge area in between the blocks to sorta seal the whole thing off and make it air tight. Tossed some sods around the middle to keep the wind from blowing it to much and tearing things up.

The idea is that 60-90 days of good warm, sunny weather will cook all the weeds and grass, seeds included. Or so I've read.

We'll find out how efficient this is next year.

This ground was part of the old garden in years past and has had several tons of horse dookie added to it and is in much better shape overall than most of the crap I'm working on in the new area now. It'll be about a 30x50 foot extension and provide some much need room.

I've got 2 beds tied up with Strawberries now that really need a better place. I'm working on propagating a bunch of new plants in them now and will be able to transplant them all after they get done next year. I've got runners going out every which way right now that I'm trying to sort into a nice neat pattern. I should have strawberries out the wazoo next year and be able to transplant all the younger plants into a new bed then. That'll be a big improvement as I didn't anticipate tying up those beds this year.

Oh well. Strawberries are worth sacrificing for!

The Blackberry patch is gonna be gangbusters this year. All the rain we've had has really been good for them.

The GrumpyWife made some asskick jelly a couple of years ago from those bad boys and I'd like some more of that.

There's about 50 foot of bushes like this and they're all loaded.

That's not counting the wild ones that are all over the swampland that adjoins my property.

I haven't checked on the wild Raspberries yet, but need to. There's a bunch of them right next door too.

My transplanted Red Raspberries are gonna put out some berries too. I was sorta surprised by that. They were not looking to good last year before the transplant, but they look pretty good now. Needed the move I guess. I'll have to get a spot for them too pretty soon.

Major Scrounge Score Today !!!!!

The Wife clued me this morning to a Freecycle ad about free lumber so I went and checked it out.

One of the local motels had a small fire and they tore down a section of the building. And there was a shitload of lumber.

I made 2 loads in the little blue truck and would have gone back for more, but word must have gotten out and it was starting to look like a feeding frenzy, so I gave it up.

Got quite a nice stack of lumber. Mostly 2x8's with a few 2x10's and 2x12's. Most of it about 12 foot long. Lots a nails to pull, but the price was right.

We are pleased.






There's not usually a whole lot on Freecycle that's all that interesting to me, but once in awhile you get lucky.

Since were on the subject of wood. Here's some of the lumberjack project that's been going on.






I'm thinning out a stand of trees and here's some of whats been cut so far.

The stuff on the left is Sycamore and not much good for anything other than the firepit. But that's ok. I have a firepit and have been using it quite a bit this Spring.

The rest is Maple. Hopefully I'll have a wood burning stove in by this winter (if I can figure out where to get the $$$$ for it) and that'll be used in there.

I've got 8-9 small to medium trees yet to get to so I'd better be burning some or that stack will take up the whole yard. That's only a few trees worth of wood there and only one had any size to it. There are a couple of huge Sycamores that I'd like to get rid of, but they are a bit intimidating for me. 90-100 feet high and big at the base. I've cut a lot of trees over the years, but I get a little queasy thinking about those. My big saw only
has a 24" bar on it.

So they're probably safe for now.

Anyway, it's been a good day. I got a lot of things done that I needed to, copped some free lumber & cut some grass even if it was too wet. The rain has continued on & off all day.

So other than a little weeding, the garden planting I wanted to do ain't happening. Maybe tomorrow.

Haven't gotten out on the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle either. That's really the only disappointment going.

Wet Wednesday ......

Lots of rain today. The Interwebz were not accessible most of the morning. This satellite setup doesn't do heavy rain clouds to well. I kicked around the garage some and cleaned some shit up and generally just stumbled around in circles.

The Sun finally broke out about 3:30 or so and I made a run to town to get my glasses ordered. Yeah, even with bionic eye implants I need glasses for closeup work. I've been getting by with some cheap WalMart reading glasses but they really don't cut it.

Even using my old frames it's costing me an arm and a leg. Lordy, everything is so damn expensive anymore.

The air conditioning unit went on the fritz too. The repair guy thought that it may have been what was causing the heating problems last Winter that he couldn't find. He's getting the parts and will be back soon to install them and bust my wallet even more.

I'm slowly getting nickled and dimed into the poor house.

Oh well. I could do without AC myself, but the Wife wouldn't be fit to live with if I told her we weren't getting it fixed till we needed the heat come Winter. That would never fly. At least until the cost of energy gets to prohibitive and then there will be a reassessment.

Not just at my house. A couple of years of this new proposed, Cap and Trade System is going to send energy costs through the roof for all Y'all.

Better learn to like it.

I'm hoping to have some wood heat to supplement things until they come after that too as they have already in California.
Global Friggin' Warming don'tcha know. Remember who said he was gonna kill the coal industry during the campaign? I'm betteing he keeps that promise.
