About 3 weeks ago I posted a link to the Market Ticker and Asked Folks to read it and comment.

Well it looks like this is beginning to move.

From the Western Rifle Shooters today comes several links that verify this, soon to be theft of our savings by the government.

"The Department of Labor and the Department of the Treasury (the "Agencies") are currently reviewing the rules under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the plan qualification rules under the Internal Revenue Code (Code) to determine whether, and, if so, how, the Agencies could or should enhance, by regulation or otherwise, the retirement security of participants in employer-sponsored retirement plans and in individual retirement arrangements (IRAs) by facilitating access to, and use of, lifetime income or other arrangements designed to provide a lifetime stream of income after retirement. The purpose of this request for information is to solicit views, suggestions and comments from plan participants, employers and other plan sponsors, plan service providers, and members of the financial community, as well as the general public, on this important issue."

You do realize where this is gonna go right?
Your IRA, 401K and most any other retirement account that you have been working on is gonna get nicked and all your gonna be left with is an IOU signed by President Obama.

I read This Market Ticker article a couple of days ago and it's been bothering me ever since.

There is a lot of discussion on it at The Market Ticker Forum that I haven't gotten through yet.

I won't presume to give anyone financial advice and you'd be wise to not accept any from a schlub like me.
But I'm very open to hearing from any and all on this topic.

Spring is here and it's getting busy around the "GrumpyUnk Command and Control Bunker".

I spent 5-6 hours on the BigBluePlasticMotorcycle yesterday. Very therapeutic. My mental hygiene has had a set of vice grips clamped on it lately and a nice long ride out into "Banjo Music Country" was a good thing.
Rode a lot of gravel roads into and out of the hollers and the river bottoms.

The Spring project list just keeps getting longer - just like every year.
Did a bit of clean up in the garden this afternoon that should have been done last Fall. Wanted to get some Peas planted but TherapyBoy showed up and took me to the movies to see, "Battle Los Angeles".

YerUnk gives it 4 stars just because it honors the USMC so well. Go ahead and see it if you like this type of movie. The only downside? No Boobs.

School used student laptop webcams to spy on them at school and home -

"According to the filings in Blake J Robbins v Lower Merion School District (PA) et al, the laptops issued to high-school students in the well-heeled Philly suburb have webcams that can be covertly activated by the schools' administrators, who have used this facility to spy on students and even their families. The issue came to light when the Robbins's child was disciplined for "improper behavior in his home" and the Vice Principal used a photo taken by the webcam as evidence. The suit is a class action, brought on behalf of all students issued with these machines."

And if you're thinking, "No way. Nobody is that stupid". You'd be wrong.

Tuesday Evening Update.....
Things have been kinda slow around here as of late and I apologize to all 3 of ya for that. Holidays, etc, blah, blah, blah.

Took the little Blue Truck into the shop today to figure out just WTF was causing this weird noise and vibration. I had another mechanic look at it a week ago and he told me he couldn't figure out what I was talking about.
I knew something was wrong with it and was starting to obsess over it. Odd noises/vibrations like that are never good and all I could think of was being stranded on the side of the road at 1 am in a snowstorm.

Been there once before and didn't much care for it so I was determined to get this sorted out.
As luck would have it, the mechanic, (Who's hearing is a lot better than mine) drove it about 6 blocks and determined that a U Joint was going bad.

Good news indeed. Solved the mystery of WTF was the source of the vibration, U Joints are a cheap fix and it made me feel better in that I KNEW something was not right.

So we got that fixed along with an oil change, etc and all is right for now and it didn't cost me a bloody fortune. Good deal. I got the feeling I'm gonna need that extra cash in the near future.

Not that the Federal Reserve Notes are likely to be worth anything if something doesn't change big time pretty damn soon.
